Perspectives
Focus on what's good
When relationships are under pressure, it's natural for our attention to be drawn to the difficulties and the things that feel unresolved. Over time, this can make it harder to notice the strengths and positive moments that continue to exist alongside the challenges.
Take a moment to pause and reflect on what you value in your partner. Consider the qualities you appreciate, the moments of kindness you've shared, and the hopes or values that matter to you both. These small but meaningful aspects of your relationship can help provide a broader perspective and remind you of the foundations that support your connection.
When you choose to see the good, your perspective shifts. You begin to feel more hopeful, more connected, and more at ease. You remember why you're in this relationship and what makes it special. The love you're looking for might already be there — you just need to notice it. So take time to appreciate, to reflect, and to celebrate the bond you've built. Sometimes a small shift in perspective can lead to big changes in how you feel and connect.
Use this Tool to gain insight into how perspectives can change what you see.
What do you see at first glance?
Look at the picture below. Take a moment, then come back here.
See with fresh eyes
Now take another look. Can you see something different? Many people first see one figure — for example a young woman looking away — and then, with a second look, an older woman in profile. Both are there.
We often look at the same situation but interpret it differently from someone else. That's the beauty and challenge of perspective. The real skill lies in stepping outside our own view and trying to understand how someone else sees things. When we do this, we open the door to deeper understanding, empathy, and connection. Seeing through another's eyes doesn't mean losing your own view — it means expanding it.
